The Logs page carries a lot of information. We have broken it
down in to managable amounts.
At the top of the page there is a list of links. Depending on
your site and how many pages you are tracking, there may only be one link, or
there may be many. These links will simply take you to the pages that Internet
Design Stats is monitoring for you. These links will appear on the top of each
page.

In the top right corner you can see the current date and time.
There is no real good reason to have this here, and Iit will probably be removed
in later versions.

There are many options available to you here. Across hte top of
this section are links to all the other sections. For details of their content
please see the menu at the bottom of this page.
Your first option is to select how many results you want to see
on each page. This page can become confusing if you have too many results on
it, but sometimes you need a lot of results to see what is really happening.
The image above shows that the second option, "50" is underlined -
this is how many results are currently shown per page. To change the amount,
click one of the other numbers.
Below that you have options for "Turn showref on", "full
agent on". "visitor paths on" and "mp titles on". You
probably want to have all of these switched to on. They are:
| Showref |
Shows
the referring page - where the link was that they clicked to get to this page. |
| Full
Agent |
The
Agent is the software they are using to get to your page - such as Internet Explorer
6.0 on Windows XP. |
| Visitor
Path |
The
path that the user took - for example, she started at index.html, went to info.html,
and then to purchase.html. |
| mp
titles |
Multi-Page
- simply tells you how many pages that person looked at. |
On the right you can enter the time range you want to look at,
from 00:00:00hrs on the 1st line to 23:59:59 hours on the 2nd. The minimum you
can see is one day.
The next section is not shown here, for it will be different for
every user. Basically it contains a list of visitors, based on the selections
made above. This is broken down into nine columns. From left to right, these
are:
| Host
/ IP |
The
address of the person who visited you. This may appear as "something.something.AOL.com"
(depending on how they connect to AOL - or any other ISP), or it may be an IP
number (such as "66.70.28.200") - which is the identifier for hte computer
they used to connect with. |
| Referer |
The
refering page is the one that sent the user to the page in question. If the refering
page is a search engine, such as google.com, you will see a word or some words
in brackets after the search engines name. For example:
Google (site hosting).
This shows that someone found the site by looking for the words "site"
and "hosting". |
| Agent
Information |
This
will look something like:
Internet Explorer 5.0; MacPPC
This tells us that the visitor to the site was using Internet Explorer (Version
5.0) on an Apple Mac. |
| res |
This
tells you what resoloution their screen was displaying, |
| color |
This
tells you how many colors their screen could display. |
| Timestamp |
This
indicates the time and date that the visitor went to the site. |
| online |
This
tells you how long they spent on the pages being monitored by Internet Design
Stats. |
| mp |
"Multi-Page"
- this counts the number of pages they looked at during their visit to your site. |
Finally you have a search box, allowing you to search for specific visitors.
The more information you give, the more specific your results will be.
